I often find that Photographers think of portraits as just being a time to make pretty pictures of a couple. This usually means you end up falling into the trap of just creating the same pictures at every wedding and not making pictures that are meaningful to your couples.

I see portraits as way of capturing the unique dynamics of a couple’s relationship. For me it’s about creating photographs that they can look back on that aren’t only beautiful but also say something about them and who they are.

• How to find inspiration for couple photos outside the wedding industry.
